Steel Grits

Steel Grits  (SAE)

PRODUCT Enquiry

A cast steel angular grit produced by crushing specially heat treated oversize shot pellets. Its behavior in service depends entirely on hardness – a characteristic readily modified by suitable heat treatment.

In-Spec steel grit are used mainly in wheelblasting machinery for cleaning or preparation work on special surfaces.

In addition, In-Spec GL and In-Spec GH steel grit are equally suitable for use in wheelblasting machines and in most cases air blast equipment.

IN-SPEC GP STEEL GRIT

This abrasive, which is angular when new, rapidly becomes rounded in use. The hardness, slightly higher than that of steel shot, gives a better performance in certain cases such as descaling with no increase in maintenance costs for the shot blasting equipment.

IN-SPEC GL STEEL GRIT

Although harder than GP steel grit, GL steel grit also loses its sharp edges during shot blasting and is particularly suited to heavy descaling and surface preparation requirements.

These steel grit have longer life cycle than similar products for the same result, yet do not cause excessive wear in the plant. GL steel grit clean rapidly to give a clean, etched finish to all surfaces. They are an ideal replacement for mixtures combining round and angular shot of different hardnesses.

IN-SPEC GH STEEL GRIT

Having maximum hardness, GH always remains angular in its operating mix. This steel grit does not shatter readily yet has a fast, effective, etching action, making it ideal for deep descaling and etched surface requirements.
